K.I.S.S. - When it comes to Marketing Success for your Small Business…Keep It Super Simple!

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

Business Growth Strategy Tips

Marketing for small businesses; we know it can feel a bit overwhelming. Sometimes one of the best things you can do to grow your business is to keep it as simple as possible by focusing on best practices, then committing to being consistent. We’ve found, over decades of helping small businesses grow, that oftentimes developing a super simple, and easy to succeed at, strategy works great for busy business owners. So, staying true to our title here, we’re going to keep it real simple and give you some super basic tips we recommend you follow to see success with your business growth strategy, focusing on marketing…

  1. Be self aware. Dig deep to really get to know who you are and what makes you different. *(‘you’ here means ‘your business’)

  2. Know your audience. Really zero in on who your ideal clients or customers are.

  3. Once you’ve identified ‘who’ your ideal target audience is, the next step is figuring out where their attention is?

Target Audience Behavior

Your ideal audience (or audience segments)... How are they consuming information? Really really hone in on this one!

Create engaging content that tells the story of your brand!

Remember #’s 1-3 here and create content that really (1) drives home your differentiator and (UVP) unique value proposition, and tells it in your authentic voice, then (2 & 3) consistently distribute it through the channels where you’ve identified your audience’s attention is likely to be: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, email, etc!

Messaging Tactics & Marketing Metrics

We recommend another super simple strategy here and we refer to it as being a ‘spaghetti thrower’ (which is experimenting with your marketing messaging, then analyzing the results). Keep throwing that spaghetti against the wall - strategically of course - then constantly figure out what is sticking and what isn’t, or in other words…

  1. How is your reach?

  2. What are your followers engaging with?

  3. How is your conversion?

Then decide what you should shelf, trash, or invest more time, money and energy in. Rinse and repeat.
